Miami

I love the coffee and breakfast at this spot. It's very old school, and I love to hang out and watch the staff, they all have a style and grace about them, reminds me of the Dresden Room in LA. They let me hang out and snap while I wait for my food.

Family, Friends and Offspings....

I've seen these guys grow up, and I have to say that I am always in awe, and impressed when they show up at the house for birthday dinners, bbq's and such... I can't believe they still want to hang out with their parents, no less their parents friends? I hope mine feel the same about us...

Brooklyn Blonde pt. 3

Meet Millie... I really enjoyed shooting her, because she was really happy to have her photo taken. I was in awe of how perfectly she applied her lipstick and was very happy with this shot of her, she has such a warm spirit. We were so busy talking I forgot to ask her why she was blonde.

This is Cherry, I saw her walking down the street and I ran to get her number. (so embarrassing) When she came to the house to shoot she was wearing so much make up she looked like a completely different person, and it threw me off. Not in a bad way, just not the fresh face that I remembered. She didn't finish her answer to why she's blonde..... "I've always been blonde..."

Shumaya came to a baby shower next door. She's not blonde, but she was giving me something really special with her hair color and her regal strength and beauty.

Erica..... she was a trooper, she let me make an attempt to dye her hair blonde, it didn't work but it made for a fun day!!

More from "Brooklyn Blonde"

This is Sabrina and Justina. Meeting up with Sabrina was like getting initiated into a secret club. I went through tons of emailing and texting back and forth, answered many questions over the course of about a week, and I had never even met her. When I arrived I figured out why. I was immediately blown away by her strength first, then her obvious beauty..... and she brought her sister.

I spent the most time with them, and they gave me 100% of their energy. I walked through the neighborhood with she and her sister and saw how people reacted to them and how they responded. They bring so much grace, style, beauty and confidence demanding your respect.

At the end of the day it was really important for Sabrina to know that she would not be portrayed as "a dumb blonde." In my mind I was thinking that would be IMPOSSIBLE.

More to come.... thank you Claude and Mikaela see full story online at TRACE

Happy Birthday Ida

Today would have been my mom's 73rd birthday, everything about her that I thought was crazy, is who I am.. brutally honest and ever present! I shot this story for Trace last summer... an homage to my Mom.

This was the first blonde beauty I shot before the assignment... she had the exact shade I remembered my mom had.... I just asked to take her photo.

Nikita "I want to be different and outrageous. I want to stand out." and this was special because it reminded me of the mushroom cut but one side was shaved...

Shandi "I love being blonde because I love the attention." Although she was very skeptical of being photographed, she was amazing.

“Brooklyn Blonde”
Jenny Baptiste

In the mid 1970’s when my mom was in her 40’s she dyed her hair platinum blonde. For her, it was merely an outer expression of her personal style: bold, confident and eye-catching. This assignment was very personal as I feel every “Brooklyn Blonde” embraces the culture’s tradition of strong independent women that speak their mind and express themselves...........

more to come....

Thank you Claude and Mikaela

My last day in Jamaica

It rained quite a bit over the time we were there, but it really didn't bother me at all. We were staying in the mountains so it was really beautiful and peaceful. We went to pick up some tings and I'm happy to have made this connection!

This was one of the many, but not the ONE that woke us up every morning!
